The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is something of a gamble at the current time, so you could think that there might be very little desire for visiting Zimbabwe's gambling halls. In fact, it appears to be functioning the opposite way, with the critical economic conditions leading to a bigger ambition to wager, to attempt to find a fast win, a way out of the crisis.

For many of the locals living on the meager local wages, there are two established forms of gambling, the national lottery and Zimbet. As with practically everywhere else on the planet, there is a national lottery where the odds of succeeding are extremely tiny, but then the winnings are also extremely large. It's been said by market analysts who understand the concept that most don't purchase a card with a real assumption of profiting. Zimbet is founded on either the local or the United Kingston soccer divisions and involves determining the results of future matches.

Zimbabwe's casinos, on the other foot, pander to the exceedingly rich of the nation and tourists. Up till a short time ago, there was a very substantial tourist industry, based on safaris and trips to Victoria Falls. The economic woes and connected conflict have cut into this trade.

Among Zimbabwe's gambling halls, there are 2 in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slot machines, and the Plumtree Casino, which has only slots. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just slots. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which contain table games, slot machines and video machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which has gaming machines and tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe's gambling dens and the previously mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is quite like a parimutuel betting system), there are also two horse racing tracks in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Since the economy has contracted by beyond 40 percent in recent years and with the associated deprivation and crime that has cropped up, it isn't understood how healthy the tourist industry which supports Zimbabwe's gambling halls will do in the near future. How many of the casinos will carry through till things improve is merely unknown.
